'World of Final Fantasy' release date news update: New batch of screenshots give gamers close-up look at game's villains and heroes
Devoted followers of "Final Fantasy" are eagerly awaiting the release of "World of Final Fantasy," a chibi-art styled role-playing game (RPG) that's aimed at young gamers. Not much has been said about it, but recently, game developer Square Enix released bits of information and screenshots to give fans something to look forward to.

Gaming Union said the recently released screenshots included heroes, villains, mirages, and even Vivi, who may be recalled was part of "Final Fantasy IX." Some of the photos featured Dark Knight Brendires, king and commander of the Bahamut Army who plans widespread invasion so he could have all of Grymoire in his control.
Seguriwades, who is a staff officer of the Bahamut Army, was also featured in the screenshots. Rounding up the villains were some of the Bahamut soldiers and a mysterious masked woman who supposedly throws advice the players' way. It remains unknown whether this woman is an ally or a foe.
The heroes' side features Legend Characters, including Vivi, an expert black mage. Previously confirmed characters are also featured in the screenshots. Among these are fast-moving Cloud, Yuna, the Warrior of light, and Lightning, who deals heavy physical damage to the enemy through its flash-like movements. Completing the batch of new screenshots are mirages, which the heroes and Legend Characters would end up becoming friends with. These include Deskar, Odin, and the Undead Princess.
Square Enix made the screenshots available through the Japanese website 4Gamer. Gamers could check it out to see the complete set of screenshots, which somehow provides a glimpse into how well this yet-to-be-released game is shaping up.
The developers are mum on the exact date of release, merely saying "World of Final Fantasy" is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita Winter of 2016. Nevertheless, the online store for Square Enix offers the game for pre-order with a published release date of Dec. 31, 2016.
