'Wonder Woman' movie release date news: Premiere set for June 2, 2017, invisible jet won't be included

This year marks the 75th birthday of iconic heroine "Wonder Woman," and fans can't wait to see her make history in her big screen comeback scheduled for next year. New details have finally emerged, and lucky for fans, the public will have a glimpse of the heroine's famed jet in the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego.
"There's no better time than now," DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson recently told People Magazine about their decision to make another "Wonder Woman" standalone film after 40 years. "The overall conversation that's happening in our culture right now – about having stronger gender equality representation in media and in government and in education and all of it just makes it the perfect time to see a character like Wonder Woman out there."
Unfortunately for fans who have come to love every bit of the heroine's 1970s TV show, the Amazonian princess warrior's invisible jet will not be in the 2017 film. "There is no invisible jet.... Not in this iteration. [The movie] will have its own tone and look — it's beautiful.... There is humor in it, there is real emotion in Diana's journey in discovering the complexity of man," Nelson added.
Lead star Gal Gadot previously mentioned in an interview how she admires the character of Diana Prince. "It was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she's not there because of a love story. She's not there to serve someone else," Gadot explained to E! News. "She has so many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she's a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence...I think women are amazing for being able to show what they feel. I admire women who do. I think it's a mistake when women cover their emotions to look tough. I say let's own who we are and use it as a strength."
Aside from lead actress Gal Gadot, other main characters include Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Danny Huston and David Thewlis.
"Wonder Woman" is expected to hit the theaters on June 2, 2017.
