Winds of Winter release date, plot update: Author RR Martin reveals new chapter and characters

The sixth book from "A Song of Ice & Fire" saga, "The Winds of Winter" has been a subject of numerous rumors and speculations all over the internet. Book author George RR Martin had already announced that the next sequel will be delayed, which have caused some stir from many of its fans. To make up for the delay, RR Martin recently announced an update with regard to the upcoming book on his blog.
"And... because I know how much bitching I'd get if I offered a new sample from Wild Cards without also doing one from A SONG OF ICE & FIRE," the author wrote on his personal blog. "We've also changed the WINDS OF WINTER sample on my website, replacing the Alayne chapter that's been there for the past year with one featuring Arianne Martell. (Some of you may have heard me read this one at cons)."
RR Martin also added some sort of book spoilers on his blog as he hinted about the Ellaria Sand, Sand Snakes, Darkstar and Prince Doran. The new information provided by the author definitely gives fans something to look forward to. However, fans will have to wait for the book to come out to know more about the story.
"You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in WINDS OF WINTER? Quite a lot, actually," RR Martin hinted. "The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait."
Meanwhile, the author just recently releases an excerpt, which features the heiress of Sunspear, Arianne Martell. Some people who have followed "Game of Thrones" but did not read the book probably don't know who Martell is as the character did not make it to the TV show, Christian Daily reported.
The excerpt has definitely made some fans happy but it does not really mean that the book is already finished.
