Winds of Winter release date news update: Reportedly in the 'publishing stage,' book launch expected later this month?
The fans of highly renowned author George R. R. Martin's fantasy book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" have been patiently waiting for the sixth entry in the successful series of novels which the phenomenal HBP hit series "Game of Thrones" was based on. It was reported that the sixth entry in the book series, called "The Winds of Winter," was supposed to be the source material for the currently airing sixth season of the TV series. However, the first episode of Season 6 already premiered last month but there is no sight of "The Winds of Winter" up to now. However, if the rumors were true, the public can now expect the final version of the long overdue book to be released later this month as the manuscript of Martin's latest novel is now just waiting for publication.

According to reports, Martin has been rumored to have finished all the chapters of "The Winds of Winter," and the copy of the novel has already been sent to the publication house. After five years when Martin first announced the development of the sixth entry to the book series, there was finally a report that would suggest that the forthcoming book will arrive very soon. Because of this, "The Winds of Winter" is now expected to hit the bookshelves towards the end of May.
The book being released later than the sixth season of "Game of Thrones" has some fans worried that the currently airing "Game of Thrones" season may spoil major events that are just about to be read by the fans from the unpublished book. Martin himself also expressed his discontentment that he was not able to release "The Winds of Winter" on time.
As he stated on his Not a Journal blog, he had a lot of public appearances and several other writing engagements to work on while he was trying to finish his latest novel. Although he also said on his blog that he currently has "The Winds of Winter" on top of his priority list.
For the fans, the least they could hope for at present is to have the book released before the Season 7 premiere of "Game of Thrones." If the recent rumors were any solid indication, the fans may not have to wait that long to read the sixth "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel.
On the other hand, the fans do not have to worry about getting book spoilers while watching "Game of Thrones" Season 6 as there will be a major difference between the book and the TV series. Martin said in an interview with IGN that there is a major character in the upcoming book that was already killed in the fifth season of "Game of Thrones."
