Winds of Winter release date news update: Latest book coming soon, to feature North breaking free from Iron Throne?

There has been very limited information regarding the release date of George R. R. Martin's upcoming novel, "The Winds of Winter." It is the sixth book in the renowned author's highly popular "A Song of Fire and Ice" book series, and many expect that the contents of "The Winds of Winter" will be the source of the currently airing "Game of Thrones" Season 6. In spite of the reports that the sixth book will be further delayed and the TV version of Martin's mythos will stay ahead of the novels, there are rumors that "The Winds of Winter" is already almost complete.

According to the recent rumors, "The Winds of Winter" is possible to be released towards the end of the year. The sixth book of the huge series has taken at least four years since the previous title, "A Dance with Dragons," was released. As reported by The Bitbag, "The Winds of Winter" is likely to be released sometime this year as Martin is believed to be "almost done" with the book. In fact, he is now on his way to complete the final chapter of the book.

Another proof that Martin has almost completed his present work is the number of sample chapters from "The Winds of Winter" that he has posted on his personal blog. Just recently, he was generous enough to share the latest chapter about the character of Aeron Greyjoy. With the recent release of chapters online, many have been speculating that the final version of the book itself will be released at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that one major part of "The Winds of Winter" is the separation of The North from the rest of Westeros, iDigital Times noted. It is possible that after the great battle of Winterfell between Jon Snow and the House Bolton, a big change is about to unfold in the Seven Kingdoms. It is believed that the Starks will succeed in reclaiming the kingdom of The North, although soon enough, they will have to contend with the White Walkers that are a few steps away from breaking the Wall completely. When that happens, the dead will once again invade Westeros and chaos will ensue. As the battle is expected to happen in the North, there could be an opportunity for them to break free from the Iron Throne.
