Fans of George R. R. Martin's best-selling novels have been waiting for a long time to have a copy of the upcoming installment "Winds of Winter," but it might not arrive as soon as expected.

The 67-year-old writer has previously admitted that he had a writer's block, causing such a long delay in his work. Unfortunately, he did not finish writing the story on time, which means that HBO's "Game of Thrones" will have to come up with its own plot starting this season.

While Martin continues with his writing, the veteran writer mentioned in his May 10 blog post that new content has been added in his "Winds of Winter" sample. "And... because I know how much bitching I'd get if I offered a new sample from Wild Cards without also doing one from A SONG OF ICE & FIRE... we've also changed the WINDS OF WINTER sample on my website, replacing the Alayne chapter that's been there for the past year with one featuring Arianne Martell (Some of you may have heard me read this one at cons)," Martin's post reads. "You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in Winds of Winter? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait. And no, just to spike any bullshit rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done," he added.

Reports say that more deaths can be expected in "Winds of Winter, " and Martin explained that it is a part of being a fantasy author. "That's such a cheat. It doesn't happen that way," the writer said about how the hero always lives in the story. "They go into battle and their best friend dies or they get horribly wounded. They lose their leg or death comes at them unexpectedly."

As of now, a release date has yet to be announced by Martin himself since his upcoming book is still in progress. For those who would like to see the "Winds of Winter" sample, the chapter can be read here.
