White House Says Planned Parenthood Videos 'Entirely Inaccurate'
The White House has spoken out in regard to recent Planned Parenthood videos released by an activist group, calling the depiction of the abortion organization as "entirely inaccurate."
Josh Earnest, press secretary for the White House, said during a press briefing this week that according to the Planned Parenthood organization, the videos are "entirely inaccurate" and consist of edited material that "grossly distorts" the abortion provider's position.
"There's ample reason to think that this is merely the tried and true tactic that we have seen from some extremists on the right to edit this video and selectively release an edited version of the video that grossly distorts the position of the person who is actually speaking on the video," Earnest recently said. "And Planned Parenthood has indicated that's what has occurred here.
"Any review of the policy that Planned Parenthood says they implement indicates the views expressed in the videos, or at least the way they're pictured on the videos is entirely inaccurate," he added.
Earnest is referencing multiple undercover videos recently released by the Center for Medical Progress that show Planned Parenthood executives discussing the costs surrounding the procurement and transportation of aborted fetal tissue.
Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, issued an apology after the first video was released, saying the video did not communicate compassion.
"Our top priority is the compassionate care that we provide. In the video, one of our staff members speaks in a way that does not reflect that compassion. This is unacceptable, and I personally apologize for the staff member's tone and statements," Richards said.
The abortion provider has repeatedly argued that it does not profit from the sale of aborted fetal body parts, which are many times donated to laboratories throughout the country for research.
