'Westworld' air date, plot spoilers: New trailer features Western-themed adventure world; Dr. Robert Ford explains how dreams work

HBO's much-anticipated sci-fi drama "Westworld" is just a few weeks away from its premiere, and a new trailer featuring Dr. Robert Ford's creepy futuristic theme park has been recently released.
Based on Michael Crichton's 1973 film of the same name, "Westworld" follows the lives of a group of people in a futuristic adult theme park run by artificial intelligence. People visit the Western-themed adventure world to live out their fantasies with the help of androids following the patrons' commands. Everything seems to run smoothly at first, but the patrons later realize that the whole park is not as it appears to be. The robots will begin to question their existence, further complicating the theme park's operation.
The new trailer features some of the theme park attendees, including Dolores Abernathy (Even Rachel Wood) and Teddy Flood (James Marsden) as they begin to discover more about the dream world they live in and how it functions. Aside from being the oldest robot in the area, Dolores is the only non-prostitute female in Westworld. Also making an appearance in the teaser is Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), the architect and creator of Westworld who is responsible for everything that's happening. He appears to be explaining to Dolores how dreams work.
HBO has been working on the program since 2013, initially announcing that it will hit the small screen sometime in 2015. Last year, however, the premium cabler announced that the premiere will be pushed back to a later date in 2016. Actor Ed Harris is also set to join the cast as the Gunslinger, which is possibly Yul Brenner's character in the original film.
Meanwhile, fans can access a Discover Westworld website made officially for the series. It appears to be a travel site for the Westworld theme park where trailers for the upcoming show can be viewed.
"Westworld" season 1 officially premieres on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
