'Wentworth' season 5 air date, cast news update: Bea Smith to be replaced by Da Silva's Franky Doyle or Jenkinson's Allie Novak
Bea Smith was a fan favorite but the main protagonist of "Wentworth" was killed off last season. If the showrunners are able to kill the main character, it means that the rest of the characters are unsafe and that some might possibly meet their end in the forthcoming season. Though fans are still hoping that Smith will be revived in season 5, reports are already suggesting replacements for the main role.

Australia's contemporary revival of a classic prison drama TV series, "Wentworth" took a rather drastic turn in its fourth season. Fans of the series are wondering what's in store for the succeeding season. Who will assume the lead role? More importantly, who is going to be killed off next?
Rumor has it that either Franky Doyle (Nicole Da Silva) or Allie Novak (Kate Jenkinson) could be taking on the lead role.
On the other hand, reports are stressing that Da Silva's schedule is packed since the actress will continue to film for her new role in the series "Doctor, Doctor." Hence, the actress might not be able to play the role of the protagonist. Rumor has it that her character will even be killed off.
In an interview with After Ellen, Kate Jenkinson, who portrays Allie Novak, revealed that Smith's death will change the dynamics within the prison walls.
"People are going to want revenge," she told the news outlet, before adding, "Specific people (points at self). If you want to see justice for Bea, then watch season five. And long game, I don't know what's going to happen in season five. As a viewer — because I'm a fan of the show as well — I want to see what happens to The Freak! I want to see her get what she's got coming."
The fifth season of "Wentworth" is expected to premiere in May 2017.
