'Wayward Pines' season 3 news 2016: Will season 2 ratings be enough to push for a season 3?
FOX Network's science fiction television series "Wayward Pines" burned through most of the material in Blake Crouch's trilogy for its first season. Hence, the author had to create original material for the second season. But will Crouch's plans for the third season be enough to keep the show running?

Nowadays, it is pretty common for TV shows to pick up materials from best-selling books. Though many showrunners and fans are concerned with how the material will be translated into an entire TV series, the author of "Wayward Pines" wasn't worried at all when his books were picked up by FOX Network.
It was previously reported that FOX Chief Executive Officer Dana Walden had a pretty good feeling that season 3 could happen. She had been in touch with Crouch and with the series' executive producer M. Night Shyamalan, as they have expressed their ideas for the third season.
At that time, Walden revealed that they were still waiting for season 2's ratings. TVLine recently reported that the second season has relatively low ratings compared to the first. According to the report, season 1 garnered 3.8 million viewers while season 2 had only 2.4 million viewers.
Is FOX Network confident about renewing the show for another season? Fans are crossing their fingers that the network will see its potential for a third season.
If the show gets renewed, Crouch and Shyamalan have big plans for it. According to Crouch in an interview with Enterntainment Weekly, viewers will see a completely different town in the third season. Though the characters locked themselves in sleeping pods so they may wake up one day to an Abby-free world, the showrunners will not give them what they have hoped for.
The upcoming season of "Wayward Pines" will feature evolved Abbies. Crouch said that even without humans around, "life finds a way."
Many will be devastated if the series ends with the previous season's cliffhanger so fans hope that FOX will make an announcement soon.
