'Wayward Pines' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Questions about Jason Higgins finally answered in episode 3?

Fox's highly acclaimed mystery returned on the small screen with one too many questions in its wake. Will future episodes for season 2 finally reveal answers to these intriguing questions? Will the true identity of mysterious characters finally be revealed to viewers?

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW), the series' executive producer gave his take on the direction season 2 is treading.

"I would say that because every character's waking up, they're having their own arc, so you get to watch all these characters go through initiation in their own way," he revealed to EW. "Even if you know or don't know [the secret to Wayward Pines], both sides are getting information in a fresh way, and a bunch of old characters keep coming in and out."

In the previous episode, the tension was palpable between Jason Higgins (Tom Stevens) and Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric). Theo used his power as the town's only surgeon to demand answers from Jason, but the upcoming episode is expected to delve more into the seeming conflict between the two.

Christian Post reported that Wednesday's episode would explore more of Jason's life. Titled "Once Upon a Time in Wayward Pines," episode 3 would show bits and pieces of Jason's past and present life in an effort to shed light on the power he holds over the little Idaho town.

The upcoming episode would also answer questions about last week's final scene when a blood-thirsty Abbie was seen evading the surveillance cameras and eyeing the fence surrounding the town.

Meanwhile, TVLine reported that episode 3 would see the return of Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo). It was presumed that Nurse Pam has already died, but she was actually banished to the outskirts of "Wayward Pines" following her decision to kill her brother David Pilcher (Toby Jones). Her comeback would apparently pose a lethal threat to the town.

"Wayward Pines" season 2, episode 3 airs on Wednesday, June 8, at 9 p.m. EST on Fox. In the meantime, check out the preview of the upcoming episode below.
