'Wayward Pines' season 2 finale spoilers, plot news: Theo makes decision for humanity; Abbies and humans to reach compromise?

Theo must make a decision which could define the fate of humanity in the upcoming finale episode of Fox's sci-fi mystery drama "Wayward Pines" season 2.

In the promo trailer for the season finale titled "Bedtime Story," Theo reveals that an enemy will soon infiltrate the walls of Wayward Pines, and they will have to do something to protect the citizens. He later on tells the public to prepare for evacuation, stressing that they must move now before the Abbies reach the premises. Due to the people being in a state of panic, issues begin to arise in some of the areas allotted for evacuees. The citizens start fighting among themselves just to secure a place inside the cryo pod as it prepares to close, but it might be too late for some of them.

As the final episode nears, there are speculations on how season 2 will wrap up. Since the show has always been unpredictable with its numerous plot twists, it would be quite difficult to tell how the story ends or if someone important will die. BuddyTV listed possible endings for the season's storyline and according to the publication's poll, most fans believe that the Abbies and humans will reach a compromise for the security of everyone.

If the humans and Abbies manage to have an understanding of some sort, the two groups might find a common ground where they can co-exist without fearing for their lives. Previous episodes already shown that Abbies are intelligent and so far, they only become violent when threatened. It remains to be seen if they have the tendency to kill for reasons other than self-defense, but it might be a sign that they can strike a compromise with the town's residents. However, there is also the possibility of the Abbies taking over the town so viewers must tune in to see what lies ahead for Wayward Pines.

The official synopsis for episode 10 reads:

"As the Abbies descend upon the town, Theo is forced to make a decision that could seal humanity's fate."
