Wash. Man's Obituary Blames Seahawks For Death
An obituary from Kent, Washington has blamed a man's untimely death on the final play called by Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll that cost his team the game during last weekend's Super Bowl.
The obituary honoring the life of 53-year-old Michael Sven Vedvik on Kent, Washington suggests the man died an untimely death due to a heart attack just hours after the Seahawks lost to the New England Patriots.
The obituary jokingly accuses Carroll's final play as being the reason for Sven Vedvik's death. Carroll has received much criticism for his play that involved quarterback Russell Wilson throwing the ball just yards from the end zone, rather than handing it to Marshawn Lynch for a quick run and the game's winning touchdown.
"He was a small business owner in Kent, WA and loved his family, work, clients, traveling, the Seahawks and life," the obituary honoring the 53-year-old reads, as published in The Spokesman-Review.
"We blame the Seahawks lousy play call for Mike's untimely demise. Mike was greatly loved and will be dearly missed," the obituary adds.
Family members are now saying that Sven Vedvik would have wanted his obituary to reference the Seahawks.
"My husband would have thought it was hysterical," Stephanie Vedvik told the Spokesman-Review, a newspaper local to Washington. "If I had read this obituary to my husband about somebody else, he would have had a laugh."
Vedvik added to the media outlet that her husband died in his sleep and was found on Monday morning after the Super Bowl.
"He hadn't been feeling well on and off, but he wouldn't go to the doctor. He thought it was indigestion or stress," Vedvik told The Review.
