Vikings Season 3 Spoilers, Plot Recap: New Alliances Forming After Battlefield Victory, Characters Die

Jessalyn Gilsig as Siggy in a scene from \'Vikings.\' | HISTORY CHANNEL

New alliances were formed in the recently concluded episode of "Vikings" and this resulted in some of the characters dying.

The action took place in Kattegat, Wessex and Merica in the episode titled "Scarred," which aired at 10/9c on Thursday on the History Channel.

Harbard (Kevin Durand) again impressed the ladies of Kattegat by taking away the pain of a crying Ivar by hugging the child. Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig) then asked him if he was a god, while Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) began admiring him.

In Merica, the Vikings and the Wessex forces were rejoicing after their battlefield victory. But Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) was not happy as he felt that the Christ-worshiping Rollo (Clive Standen) was infected. Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), who was wounded in the fighting, was treated by Kwenthrith (Amy Bailey) and they slept together. Back in Kattegat, Harbard impressed Aslaug into sleeping with him.

As the Vikings marched home, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and Ecbert (Linus Roache) discussed their situation after having slept together. Then she told Ecbert that in spite of him asking her to stay, he only cared about himself and nobody else, which meant that she would accompany Ragnar and resume the duties of an Earl.

In Kattegat, Siggy rescued Ragnar's sons after they fell into a frozen lake, but she failed to save them. At the last moment, she visualized her dead daughter and was happy that she was going back to her and her family in Valhalla.

Back in Wessex, during a celebratory dinner, Ecbert asked Athelstan (George Blagden) to stay together with his lover Judith (Jennie Jacques), but he ultimately decided to go with Ragnar.

There was also a moment of understanding between Ecbert and Ragnar as they acknowledged that their alliance was based on Ragnar wanting a settlement and Ecbert wanting control of Merica. The two even acknowledged that they were both corrupt.

During dinner, Kwenthrith poisoned her brother and declared herself as the sole ruler of Merica.

Finally in Kattegat, Harbard bid goodbye to Aslaug and disappeared into the fog.
