Vikings Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers: Paris Is The Next Stop

Season 3 of Vikings is coming to the History Channel in 2015, but there's no specific release date set for the season's premiere yet. Many fans of the hit show who have stuck with it since its first season kicked off in 2013, find the dearth of a premiere date pretty strange. However the missing premiere date does not mean that there haven't been any spoilers, because they have been popping up ever since the second season's finale aired in May 2014.
A major spoiler alert was triggered when executive producer Michael Hirst provided some important tidbits to The Huffington Post in an interview, soon after the finale aired. In it Hirst pretty much stated that the ground work had been laid for Ragnar Lodbrok to rule and go ahead with various conquests, after he was crowned king in the finale of season two.
As part of the conquests Lodbrok would attack Paris, at that point of time a Roman city, with a fleet consisting of a hundred ships.
Since that interview, other juicy spoilers have cropped up and have bitten the dust. However, one that has gained immense traction is that Athelstan played by George Blagden is going to disappear or meet his end. Enstarz notes that George Blagden has scored a role on another major mini-series that runs for ten episodes.
That particular series named Versailles is helmed by Jalil Lespert, and Blagden plays Louis XIV. Blagden's shift means that his character has most probably come to an end in Vikings. In addition, many of the cast mentioned that an important character was killed off during the San Diego Comic-Con in 2014.
Enstarz is also reporting that Bjorn played by Alexander Ludwig looks set to challenge his father Ragnar played by Travis Fimmel in season three. This challenge, as per scripts being written by Hirst, will develop over time as more conflicts arise between father and son.
