'Veep' season 6 spoilers, plot news: Selina Meyers tries to stay relevant after leaving the White House

HBO's multi-awarded satire comedy series "Veep" is still one of the network's top performing shows and after the jaw-dropping season 5 finale last Sunday, fans can't wait to know how season 6 will play out.
After Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) was replaced by Laura Montez (Andrea Savage) as the president, it remains to be seen how the story will move forward with Meyer now officially back to civilian life. Even if the season 6 finale felt like the end of everything for Selina, showrunner David Mandel assured loyal viewers that "Veep" is not going anywhere. It will just take a different turn which fans should see for themselves once the show returns next year.
In an interview, Mendel recalled how the comedy series has developed over the years and expressed that he is looking forward to seeing Selina embark on a new chapter in her life. After telling the story of how the U.S. president managed to get the position, he mentioned that it is interesting to think about what comes next when she vacates her POTUS throne."Selina was a placeholder president who held the job for only a year, and perhaps, in the eyes of many, isn't deserving of her 'round-the-clock Secret Service... These are going to be very hard things for someone like Selina Meyer to hear. [It] is sort of the new world — uncharted territory — going into next season," he told Deadline.
Season 6 will feature a new phase for Selina as she struggles to stay relevant even without a place in the White House. "You'll get a sense of where these people are starting and some of the fun will be putting the band together," Mandel added as the team now begins to work on the next season. "There's a lot of Veep left. She just doesn't happen to be the veep."
"Veep" season 6 is expected to premiere sometime around April 2017.
