Using real oil paintings for each frame, "Loving Vincent" will be the world's first fully-painted animated movie. The film featuring Vincent Van Gogh's impressive painting technique will be released this year.

Despite failing to hit its mark in Kickstarter, a crowd-funding site, the ambitious animation "Loving Vincent" is still on its way for a 2016 premiere. Using 12 hand-made paintings in Van Gogh's technique per second, the film chronicles his tumultuous life, as well as his influence as an artist. According to Visual News, the massive undertaking took 43, 200 paintings with the help of 100 painters to masterfully execute the one hour long film.

As a brainchild of Hugh Welchman, the film will be under the production of Oscar winning studios, BreakThru Films and Trademark Films. Accompanying Welchman in directing the masterpiece film is Polish painter Dorota Kobiela. In spite of Van Gogh's struggle with depression which led to his suicide, Welchmann and Kobiela want viewers to know that there is more to the artist than his dreadful fate suggests. Most people only know a thing or two about Van Gogh, like the artist cutting his hear and giving it to a prostitute. However, the two collaborators want to change that, hence the project that will open the doors to Van Gogh's extraordinary life.

The storyline is told through the paintings of Van Gogh, like "the starry nights, the snow-covered fields, the gloomy absinthe drinkers, and the hardworking postmen," as reported by Huffington Post. One-hundred-twenty of Van Gogh's most notable paintings are featured in the narrative, with a plot constructed by weaving in 800 letters written by the famous artist himself. Moreover, interviews with the people closest to the Dutch painter are included as well.
As of the moment, the film producers are looking for additional painters to train and take part in the upcoming film. Their studio is located in the seaside city of Gdansk, Poland.
