Officials announced this week that U.S. warplanes recently successfully targeted over 200 oil tankers angled at supplying resources to the Islamic State in Syria.

The Pentagon confirmed this week that the attack reportedly took place over the weekend near the Syrian city of Dayr Az Zawr, where warplanes dropped bombs on 283 fuel tankers reportedly traveling to aid the Islamic State.

Attacking the Islamic State's lucrative oil reserve business has been a strategy employed by the U.S. and allies in their effort to defeat the terror group.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters this week that the U.S. is attempting to accelerate its fight against the terror group.

"The goal is to accelerate everything," Kerry told reporters this week.

"Everything helps move everything else. If we can get a cease-fire, if we can get a political process, that greatly facilitates what we can then talk to Russians and others about in terms of coordination to go after Daesh," Kerry added.

Multiple countries, including the United States, have also issued travel warnings in light of the Paris, France terror attacks that recently killed 129.

The U.S. terror warning states that "U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public places or using transportation."

"Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid large crowds or crowded places. Exercise particular caution during the holiday season and at holiday festivals or events," the U.S. terror warning adds.

Brussels has also declared an emergency alert, warning of a possible "imminent threat" from terrorist groups.
