'UnReal' season 2 spoilers: Creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro dishes out upcoming season's focus on race, gender and class

"UnReal" season 2 is expected to pick up seven months from where the first season left off, but this early, fans of Lifetime's much-anticipated reality TV satire could expect great things if co-creator and showrunner Sarah Gertrude Shapiro's words can be taken at face value.
Loyal fans after giving viewers a fascinating and capricious look at what goes on behind closed curtains in the set of "The Bachelor"-inspired dating show called "Everlasting." The main protagonists are Rachel (Shiri Appleby), a feminist who, despite doubting the overall premise of the show, proved to be a natural at manipulating the contestants and Quinn (Constance Zimmer), Rachel's boss and mentor, a foul-mouthed genius who has never gotten the credit she deserves for the work she does for the show.
In an interview with Variety, Shapiro talked about how both Rachel and Quinn would realize that the "princess fantasy" they focused on in season 1 was nothing but, and season 2 is the time for them to assert themselves as "kings". She might have also hinted of matching tattoos that the protagonists will be sporting in season 2, a mantra that would constantly remind them of their priorities.
According to Shapiro, fans could also expect new flavors to the Rachel-Quinn dynamic, particularly where Quinn lets go of the reins and handing them over to Rachel.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that the new season would see the show-within-a-show dealing with its first African-American suitor in Darius Hill (B.J. Britt). Darius is a star quarterback who joined "Everlasting" in the hopes of rehabilitating his image supposedly after getting embroiled in a scandal.
"UnReal" season 2 would also be introducing more female characters who are rather complex like Tiffany (Kim Matula), the National Football League (NFL) owner's daughter, belle and Confederacy-defender Beth Ann (Lindsay Musil), grieving Southern debutante Chantal (Meagan Tandy, "Survivor's" Remorse breakout), and Ruby (Denee Benton), an outspoken college activist.
"UnReal" season 2 premieres Monday, June 6, at 10 p.m., ET/PT on Lifetime.
