'Unbroken' Premiere News: Angeline Jolie Misses Night Claiming Chicken Pox

"Unbroken," the true life story of World War II prisoner of war survivor Louis Zamperini, premiered at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Monday night without its director Angelina Jolie. taking her place was her husband Brad Pitt who came together with three of the couple's children.
"Unbroken" is due for release on Dec. 25 throughout the United States. It stars Jack O'Connell in the role of Louis Zamperini. Also among the cast are Jai Courtney, Garrett Hedlund, Miyavi and Finn Wittrock. They were present on the red carpet in Los Angeles.
Hedlund also brought along his girlfriend Kirsten Dunst, while Miyavi, who's actual name is Takamasa Ishihara, had his wife and two young daughters at his side.
Earlier during the week, Jolie announced that she had developed chicken pox and would be missing the premiere. She made the revelation in a video that was posted on YouTube by Universal Pictures. That video quickly went viral and saw several million views. Many also speculated that the star had bowed out the premiere using chicken pox as an excuse because she did not want to deal with the aftermath of the Sony hacking scandal in which emails described her as a "spoiled brat."
At the premiere, however, the cast talked about her absence. Hedlund said they all "miss her and I am sure she wants to be here really bad."
While the Oscar-winning actress was missed at the grand premiere of her second directorial venture, Pitt was at hand to do his duty. He walked the red carpet with sons Maddox and Pax and daughter Shiloh. Also present was Pitt's father and mother William and Jane Pitt.
Guests at the premiere also included Louis Zamperini's children Cynthia Garris and Luke Zamperini, several war veterans and Olympic athletes. Garris said Zamperini's family was "grateful to Angelina for what she's done for our father and for our family." She also added that she "cried every time she saw the film."
