A United Nations peacekeeper working in Liberia has reportedly contracted the deadly Ebola virus.

The man, working as a U.N. soldier in the West African country, will reportedly be flown to the Netherlands to receive treatment for the deadly virus. According to the Associated Press, the man will reportedly be quarantined at the University Medical Center Utrecht.

Sixteen people the U.N. peacekeeper had regular contact with have also been quarantined for the disease.

An American healthcare worker is also under observation for possible Ebola after being exposed to the virus while working in Sierra Leone. The patient is currently being monitored at the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, one of 35 hospitals to be approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to treat Ebola patients.

News of more international Ebola cases comes as Nigeria recently agreed to deploy about 100 health workers to Sierra Leone to help contain the virus. Sierra Leone is one of the countries hardest hit by the epidemic, while Nigeria has remained relatively safe from the highly-contagious virus.

Unicef, an agency of the United Nations, announced this week that in a fight to control the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone, health workers will go door to door to administer malaria shots to all residents over six months of age. This practice will allow health workers to check for residents with Ebola symptoms. Additionally, being free of malaria would allow a patient's immune system to more effectively fight Ebola.

"This campaign will benefit the fight against both malaria and Ebola," Unicef local representative Roeland Monasch told BBC News.
