'Transformers 5' release date update: shooting of sequel begins in May 2016
There have been rumors already circulating on the internet about the anticipated fifth installment of the "Transformers" film franchise. The latest sound rumor has it that in the upcoming "Transformers" sequel, the movie is set to follow two different storylines. It is also reported that shooting of the film will commence this May.
According to the IGN website, the first plot of the fifth "Transformers" movie will involve Cade Yeager (played by Mark Wahlberg) and his mission to protect the humans in the mortal lands against the remaining Decepticons. The second plot will revolve around Optimus Prime and the rest of his Autobots crew as he begins his journey to find the creators of the metallic extraterrestrial race dubbed as the "Transformers."
According to the Deadline website, the principal photography for "Transformers 5" is scheduled to be on May at different locations in Detroit, Michigan. It was also revealed that the production team was able to receive great incentives on their taxes in the said location as they had used the location before in the filming of previous "Transformers" movies, and it will be a smart move money-wise to shoot again in the area.
As reported in BreatheCAST, The "Transformers" director reveals that the fifth "Transformers" movie may very well be his last project for the blockbuster film franchise. Michael Bay will return as the director in "Transformers 5" and while for him, it is good to make movies that are watched by millions of people, he said that he would like to take a break from robot to robot action.
"I'm doing Transformers ... 5, is it? I've taken on a lot of work. ... It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one," quoted from Rolling Stone via BreatheCAST.
"I have to pass the reins to someone else. J.J. (Abrams) told me, 'You're the only guy that could do this,' but it's time to move on. One more."
