'Transformers 5' release date news: Upcoming movie to feature female lead cast

There has been very limited information about Michael Bay's forthcoming metal action movie sequel, "Transformers 5." However, there are reports that the latest movie will be taking a different direction compared to its predecessors with a new female lead character. Transformers 5" is expected to hit the theaters on June 23, 2017.
The new face of the "Transformers" film series, if the reports are true, will be the 14-year-old American actress Isabela Moner. According to The Wrap, the teen actress whose acting career began in "Nickelodeon" is expected to be the first female lead in the series. The first four "Transformers" entries were headed by Shia Labeouf in Transfomers, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon," and Mark Wahlberg in "Transformers 4: Age of Extinction." The same website reported that Moner will give life to a new character named "Izabella."
Moner previously starred in "Nickelodeon" TV series and had a few stints in TV movies, while her last appearance on the big screen was during "The House That Jack Built" in 2013. Yibada reported that "Transformers 5" will be Moner's vehicle to stardom in Hollywood, being included in a worldwide blockbuster movie series. Although the road to fame may not go smoothly for a young actress like Moner, her appearance in the movie will be a breath of fresh air in the "Transformers" franchise. Bay's film series have been involved in sexism issues with former female "Transformers" stars like Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whitey reportedly had problems with the director's attitude.
IGN reported that Mark Walberg may still return to reprise his role from "Age of Extinction" as Cade Yeager. Along with Jerrod Carmichael, he will be joining a mix of old and new cast members led by Moner. The story of the new film is expected to focus on Optimus Prime's deep space adventures, unlike the previous films that concentrated the action sequences on Earth.
