"Ghost Recon: Wildlands" is the tenth installment in the "Ghost Recon" series, and compared to the previous games, "Wildlands" will be the first to feature an open world setting. According to a report from PCGamesN website, "Wildlands" is the first "Ghost Recon" game that will focus on the present time, veering away from the futuristic setting and storytelling unlike 2012's "Future Soldier" and 2014's "Phantoms."

Aside from the fresh open world setting, "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" will also be the first among the previous "Ghost Recon" video games to have RPG character customization and extra missions.

"Ghost Recon: Wildlands" was first announced by Ubisoft on E3 2015 together with the game's action-packed full trailer. The story of "Wildlands" was shown to take place in the open world location of the present day Bolivia, with the timeline adjusted quite a bit towards the future. In the narrative, Bolivia has become the world's center of cocaine production that is mainly facilitated by Santa Blanca, a fictional crime organization and drug cartel.

The gameplay of "Wildlands" is focused on Santa Blanca and how the player will bring down the powerful and ever-elusive cartel. The game will offer multiple choices for the player to perform his individual mission. The trailer shows three different ways to execute the mission that includes a long-range parachute and snipe job, a close quarters stealth-and-stab job, and let's-run-in-and-shoot-everything strategy.

Just recently, Ubisoft has launched another hit video game with the Tom Clancy label called "The Division" which has garnered a huge volume of players on its servers every day. With the success achieved by "The Division," it will be a challenge for Ubisoft to make "Wildlands" enjoy the same feat.
