'Tokyo Ghoul' Season 3 release date, spoilers news 2016: Upcoming season to air this year, to feature a new hero?
There has not been much info coming from Studio Peridot regarding the development of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. This led people to think that Season 3 may not arrive this year, and rather be postponed to 2017. However, according to the latest reports, the new season is still expected to premiere in 2016.

According to reports, Studio Peridot already greenlit the production of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3, although some issues were raised regarding the number of materials from the original manga series which will be the source of the third season. Nevertheless, the series is expected to return this year with all-new episodes. When-will.net also listed the premiere date of Season 3 for this year. To note, "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 2 aired January last year and run until March, while the first season was aired from July to September 2014.
Meanwhile, it is also speculated that "Tokyo Ghoul" will be introducing a new hero in the upcoming third season. For the first two chapters of the hit anime series, the story was focused on Ken Kaneki and his adventures as a high school student fighting the forces of darkness. That is expected to change as the third season is likely to feature Ken's training partner, Touka Kirishima, as the new central character. Moreover, the new story that is going to be more focused on Touka will follow the hero's journey until college, Mobile N Apps website reported.
Touka is a former waitress at Anteiku, but surprisingly, the supposed new protagonist of the show is actually a ghoul. It is rumored that the premise of the Season 3 will be about Touka having a hard time to look for the best university that suits her.
Even if the new season will follow either Touka or Ken, its story is expected to be as shocking and dark as the first two seasons, if not more thrilling.
"This is perhaps the most disillusioning, psychological and darkest plot line that we will attempt to adapt," said the anime series' writer Bob in an interview with Anime Maru, They would also like to write the story as close as possible to the original manga source.
"Although we cannot guarantee that more gory scenes such as Touka's standardized exam test-taking will not be censored."
