One of the popular anime series expected to be making a comeback this year is "Tokyo Ghoul," although fans who have been waiting for the third season of the show will have to wait again for more months, as the latest reports lead to a later release date. If the rumors were to be verified, "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 premiere will be sometime in 2017.

As more reports of delay in the schedule of production and airing of the new "Tokyo Ghoul" chapter, many are wondering if there will ever be a continuation to expect in the coming months. However, it was already announced by FUNimation Entertainment CEO Gen Fukunaga that the third season will premiere, although he noted that it will premiere this 2016 according to HNGN

A lot of speculations surface on the internet regarding the cause of delay of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3, and one of the sound rumors point to the lack of source materials to come up with a Season 2 continuation. The manga version of "Tokyo Ghoul" is said to be a few chapter ahead of the anime series so if the production pushes through with a third season this year, the manga series will be lagging behind and the creative team has to formulate an original content for the anime series just to show something to viewers. One of the possible solutions to continue with a third season is to reboot the series and give it a new appearance, which could be risky especially that the first two seasons already have a number of followers.

The proposed reboot of "Tokyo Ghoul" was positively received by some fans, on the other hand, and they agreed to have a brand new story for Season 3 if the creative team decides to go with that plan. This is due to some fans' reaction to Season 2 which some of its contents were described as "unnecessary deviation of the story from the manga series."
