'Titanfall 2' news: Online version to be released in South Korea; EA boss speaks about game's sales performance

As a collaborative effort among EA, Respawn, and Nexon, a "Titanfall" online game will soon be released in South Korea.
Although the hit game franchise already has online play, "Titanfall Online" is specifically an online game. According to Kotaku, this new version is scheduled to be initially released in Asia. Unfortunately, there's still no word on whether it will have an international release or not. In a gameplay footage from a Korean Youtube Channel, the game appears to be more similar to "Titanfall 1" than the latest installment. To improve the new online game further, Nexon will be holding a "Frontier Test" for South Korean players, which will start on Dec. 15 and run until Dec. 21.
Launched in October, "Titanfall 2" was released so close to other anticipated titles, including "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" and "Battlefield 1." Some fans speculate that this might have negatively affected the game's overall sales, but EA chief competition officer Peter Moore mentioned during a recent speaking event that the company is not overly concerned with a product's sales figures. Instead, EA is taking a long-term approach to the game and the whole franchise.
"One thing we do incredibly well is take a great title like this and leverage it for many years to come. We're going to be selling Titanfall 2, on a global basis, for many, many years," he said. "I don't worry about sell-through in a particular week. I think long-term across fiscal years. I think about what marketshare shifts do for us; and I think about being able to engage a customer and retain a customer."
Although "Titanfall 2" arrived at a "crowded time," Moore believes that things are looking good for the game because "quality always shines through."
Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, "Titanfall 2" is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows PC.
