'Thunderbirds Are Go' animated TV series news: Confirmed April release, official trailer revealed

Animated TV series "Thunderbirds Are Go" will air its Amazon premiere on April 22, as a new trailer was unveiled in the recently concluded WonderCon.
Landing the starring role of Lady Penelope is Oscar-nominated actress Rosamund Pike, who is best known for her role in the hit movie "Gone Girl." Actors joining the cast are Kayvan Novak, Rasmus Hardiker, David Menkin, David Graham, Angel Coulby and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
In a press statement via Geekwire, Tara Sorensen, head of Kids Programming at Amazon Studios expressed her excitement with Amazon's new endeavor. "We're excited that our customers and their families will partake in a new rendition of a classic property with the Tracy brothers at the helm," she said. "The new series will pay tribute to the legacy of the original series while adopting a new level of action-adventure and groundbreaking mix of animation and live-action," Sorensen added.
All 13 episodes will be available for streaming on the release date. A sneak preview will be available to Amazon's Prime members on April 15, along with an hour-long special entitled "Ring of Fire: Parts 1 and 2." The series is made through a one-of-a-kind mixture of live-action sets and CGI animation.
According to TV Series Finale, the synopsis from Amazon reads: "From their hidden island base, the five Tracy Brothers pilot their cutting-edge Thunderbird vehicles to every corner of the globe and beyond—all for one purpose: to help others in need. Even the devious schemes of mysterious international criminal 'The Hood' can't stop them from battling the dangers of the year 2060."
The series is produced by Pukeko Pictures and ITV Studios, in collaboration with the well-known Weta Workshop. Following a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment, the US Prime Video release will be simultaneous with Prime Video in the U.K., Germany and Austria.
