The arrests in Feguson, Missouri have begun ahead of the grand jury announcement regarding Officer Darren Wilson.

Police report that three arrests were made Thursday evening when protesters entered the street on S. Florissant Road in Ferguson and began blocking traffic traveling in southbound lanes. Police reportedly told the protesters to step out of the street and let cars pass, but when protesters refused, police formed a line to push them back onto the sidewalk.

Sgt. Brian Schellman with the St. Louis County Police Department reported Friday that some protesters reportedly pushed police or hurled derogatory phrases at officers. The three people who were arrested Thursday as a result of unruly protest include 25-year-old Moustapha Diop, 19-year-old Dasha Jones and 17-year-old Brandi Shields.

Missouri's Governor Jay Nixon has deployed the National Guard and the St. Louis Police Department to the suburb of Ferguson ahead of a grand jury's decision regarding Officer Darren Wilson, who allegedly shot and killed unarmed teen Michael Brown in August. The grand jury will soon announce if Wilson is to receive criminal charges for the incident.

It was also announced this week that despite Wilson's charges, the officer will quietly resign from the Ferguson Police Department in the coming months.

According to The Washington Post, when asked if Wilson will return to the force after the grand jury decision, Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson said: "I don't see it happening," adding that it was a "personnel matter."
