"Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi recently revealed that he wanted to include a character from "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the upcoming film.

"I would have liked to get John C. Reilly's character in the film," Waititi wrote during a recent Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, "but there was no real way to pull it off."

In "Guardians of the Galaxy," Reilly played the Xandarian Corpsman Rhomann Dey of the Nova Corps. Dey was among those who arrested Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) near the start of the film and was instrumental in the climactic fight against Ronan (Lee Pace). Because "Thor: Ragnarok" is said to be an intergalactic road trip of sorts, a visit to Xandar would have been feasible. But that would have been too simple, Waititi said.

"No, that would make it easy to pull off," he wrote.

An appearance in "Thor: Ragnarok" would have been a treat for fans of the character, especially as "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" director James Gunn previously confirmed that Corpsman Dey will not be in the upcoming sequel.

During the Reddit AMA, Waititi also said that "Thor: Ragnarok" will be unlike any Marvel Cinematic Universe that has been released. "I think [the film] will be one of the most adventurous and most 'out there' of all the Marvel movies," he wrote. "It's a crazy movie," he continued.

Waititi also revealed that while the film — a big-budget studio affair — is different from his usual indie projects, it will nonetheless have a tone similar to his earlier work.

"You can expect a Taika-esque tone," he confirmed. "They've been very accepting of my style," he added.

Previous comments from the cast of "Thor: Ragnarok" have already indicated that the film will put a spotlight on the oddball comedic dynamic between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Earlier this year in an interview with Empire, Ruffalo called "Ragnarok" a "cosmic road trip."

Apart from Hemsworth and Ruffalo, the third "Thor" stand-alone stars franchise returnees Anthony Hopkins (Odin) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki). New cast members include Cate Blanchett (Hela), Jeff Goldblum (The Grandmaster) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), who replaces Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) as Thor's love interest.

"Thor: Ragnarok" opens in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
