After a painful loss, Rebecca (Mandy Moore) will continue to struggle connecting with her adopted child in the upcoming episode of NBC's rookie drama "This is Us."

Titled "Kyle," the show's next episode will see Rebecca  make a surprise visit to Randall's (Sterling K. Brown) home where she meets his biological father, William (Ron Cephas Jones). Kevin (Justin Hartley) finally decided to take the plunge and move to New York to pursue a career in Broadway, expecting that his sister, Kate (Chrissy Metz), will also move with him.

Toby (Chris Sullivan), on the other hand, is determined to get Kate out of her brother's shadow. To make her feel better, he will be arranging a special day where she is in the limelight. While coping with the loss of their child, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca take their babies home from the hospital as they adjust to the new life of parenthood. However, Rebecca finds it difficult to connect with their adopted child.

During its premiere, "This is Us" revealed that the cast of thirtysomethings are actually more connected than viewers initially thought. As it turns out, Jack and Rebecca are the parents of the "Big Three," a.k.a. Randall, Kevin and Kate. This week's episode delivered yet another twist when the gut-punch ending revealed that the patriarch and matriarch of the family are no longer together.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Dan Fogelman shared teasers for episode 3 fans should look forward to. "It will be the first time we explore young William," he said. "We go back to the birth of the family, we go back to that time period where we start the pilot and a lot of secrets are revealed. And there's something very visceral about the episode in a different way than the first two have been, which are also really emotional and fulfilling. It's crazy."

After just one airing, NBC recently announced that the series will have a full season order. The family drama premiered last week with 10.1 million total viewers and a 2.8 demo rating, giving the network its highest-rated drama debut since "Supergirl" last Fall.

The first season of "This is Us" airs every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
