'This is Us' season 1 episode 10 spoilers, news: Pearson family spends Christmas Eve at hospital; Chrissy Metz reveals weight loss included in her contract
One of the Pearsons undergoes emergency surgery on the upcoming episode of the hit NBC drama "This is Us" season 1.
Titled "Last Christmas," the show's 10th episode features a sad Christmas Eve for the Pearsons. According to the official synopsis, the family finds themselves at the hospital on Christmas Eve after little Kate suffers from appendicitis.While at the hospital, the rest of the family run into Dr. K (Gerald McRaney), who appears to be alone.
The Pearsons eventually realized that they need to be there for him just as much as he was once there for him. Meanwhile, in the present, Kevin (Justin Hartley) celebrates Hanukkah with Olivia (Janet Montgomery) and her family. Someone from William's (Ron Cephas Jones) past returns to his life, while Kate (Chrissy Metz) continues to pursue her big surgery.
Kate is possibly one of the most beloved and relatable characters in the series. As a 36-year-old personal assistant living under the shadow of her celebrity twin brother, Kate is on a journey to change up her life and lose the weight that has affected her confidence ever since she was young. Her journey to improve her health even led her to join an overeaters anonymous group. In an interview with TV Line, Metz revealed that weight loss is actually tied to her contract for the NBC dramedy.
"In our contract, it did state that that would be a part of it, to lose the weight in the trajectory of the character as she comes to find herself," she told the publication. "That was a win-win for me. Because it's one thing to try to do it on your own. But as human beings, it's an ego thing: We're more likely to do something for someone else."
