'The Winds of Winter' release date news: Launch expected in May? Jon Snow not the main hero of new book?

The upcoming new novel, called "The Winds of Winter," is supposed to be the source material for the sixth season of HBO's hit TV series "Game of Thrones." However, the new season is currently airing and there is still no news about the book's release. There is a bit of a good news though for the fans waiting for Martin's latest book, as the recent reports suggest that "The Winds of Winter" is coming this month. Also, there will be a deviation from the TV series as "The Winds of Winter" will highlight heroes different from "GoT."
The rumors that "The Winds of Winter" will make a surprise launching this May began when Martin said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the final version of his book will not take too much time to be released. He also said that he is very positive that there will not be any problems along the way during the publication of his latest book, and he would be able to finish "The Winds of Winter" as soon as possible. He claimed that he even had to cancel important meetings to clear his schedule to focus on writing the latest book.
Meanwhile, the main plot of "The Winds of Winter" is reportedly deviating from the current events going on in "Game of Thrones" Season 6. While it can be expected that there will be similarities between the two versions of Martin's original mythos, the book is expected to differentiate itself from the TV series. For one, the main heroes of Martin's forthcoming novel will be Stannis Baratheon and Tyrion Lannister, whereas in the currently airing Season 6 of "GoT," the Lord Commander Jon Snow and the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, will be the chief protagonists, according to the news website Yibada.
To recall, Jon Snow was successfully resurrected by the Red Priestess Melisandre. Also, Daenerys has found an alliance with the new Dothraki army. Season 6 may see the rise of these two characters from the ashes and become a stronger force to take the much coveted Iron Throne. On the other hand, the fate of Stannis Baratheon in the TV series is not going quite well. He was left alone in the woods with his bleeding wound after his army had faced a shameful defeat against Bolton's forces. However, if the rumors were true, Stannis will have a much greater importance in "The Winds of Winter" and he could rebound from his pitiful situation.
