'The Winds of Winter' news: Release date delayed further, two major characters to die?

George R. R. Martin's "The Winds of Winter" is long-overdue, and it seems like fans will have to wait a few more months before it finally hits the shelves.
Showrunners D.B.Weiss and David Benioff recently confirmed that the TV adaptation of the book "Game of Thrones" will now follow its own storyline, given that the show is already ahead of the book. As noted in previous reports, the best-selling novelist tried to make more time for writing, leading him to cancel several interviews and appearances. However, recent reports seem to be the opposite, with Martin having two events on the way.
According to International Business Times, the writer will take a break from writing to attend a Bookworks event where he will interview Stephen King. The event director reportedly wanted to make King's tour unforgettable, so "The Winds of Winter" author was invited. It makes perfect sense to have the two together since they also share the same agent. Meanwhile, Martin will be in Cocteau to host an event for a new book from King's son Joe Hill entitled "The Fireman." Martin will probably not read any chapter from his latest work in "The Winds of Winter," but fans are hoping that he gives updates on the much-awaited book.
On another note, reports say that Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen will be killed off in the upcoming book. This is in line with the book and TV series taking different roads, which means that the book will have a different plot and twists.
Martin has yet to confirm if a release date for "The Winds of Winter" is on the horizon, but while fans wait for the book, the TV series is now nearing its premiere. "Game of Thrones" will make its epic comeback to TV screens on April 26.
