"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman recently appeared on AMC's comedy series "Geeking Out" to discuss the fate of the show and the comic book series. Kirkman revealed that he doesn't intend for the TV adaptation to catch up with the comics. If it ends before the comic book version does, the show might have a different ending.

On "Geeking Out" podcast, Kirkman reportedly told Kevin Smith, "I hope the show ends and the comic keeps going. The comic was the comic before the show and so I try to maintain that. I know how I want to end The Walking Dead so I can't tell anyone because I don't want it on the show before I get it in my comic."

He then added, "So, if the show were to end ever, at any point and the comic was still going, I would have to sit down with Scott [Gimple] and pretend I have no idea how to end it and come up with another ending."

The final season for the show has yet to be announced. As of the moment, fans are more concerned about the upcoming season, which will reveal another significant character death. The sixth season of the series left viewers with a very dramatic cliffhanger. In a few weeks, Negan's victim will soon be revealed in the premiere episode of the upcoming season.

Director Greg Nicotero also told Smith on "Geeking Out" that the first episode will reveal so many heartbreaking moments. The director even said that the succeeding scenes will be even more upsetting than the reveal of Negan's victim. The director described the episode as intense and added that it will keep getting worse. Nicotero teased that viewers will get to see a frightened Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will return to the small screen on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
