'The Walking Dead' Season 7 spoilers news: Was Negan's victim actually Glenn?

Days after the gut-wrenching Season 6 finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead," fans could not still get over the scene with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) beating one of the main characters to death with a baseball bat. There's a strong speculation that the poor victim is none other than Glenn (played by Steven Yeun).

In the season finale, Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) and his group were captured by the Saviors, and the leader of the group, Negan, finally made his presence felt. He revealed his odd-looking baseball bat with razor-sharp spikes on its end, and he calls it "Lucille." In a cliff-hanger ending scene, Negan mercilessly beat one of the main characters to death using his weapon. It was shot in a way that people wouldn't know which one in the group was killed.

The only way to know who that person may be is to catch the Season 7 premiere of "The Walking Dead," but that would mean waiting for a long period until October this year. For the fans, they are speculating that Negan's victim is anyone between the two characters: Glenn and Daryl (played by Norman Reedus). Glenn is a good bet mainly because in the original comic book version of "The Walking Dead," it was Glenn who faced the wrath of Negan and Lucille. It's possible that the show will follow the events in the comics version because it is the TV shows' source material, after all. However, there were times that certain events in the comics did not happen in the TV version, including the scene in the comics where Rick lost his arm. For now, Glenn's death in Season 7 remains a plain speculation.

Daryl is also on the list mainly due to the fact that the character's actor is set to have his own TV program entitled "Ride with Norman Reedus." That could also mean that he has to resign from "The Walking Dead" to focus on his new TV project.

Meanwhile, an alleged audio leak from "The Walking Dead" shooting reveals that Glenn might actually be Negan's victim. In the audio recording, the voice of Maggie (played by Lauren Cohen) is heard shouting the name of Glenn, apparently because his partner was the one hit by Negan.

Cohen spoke up regarding the issue. In an interview with The Huffington Post, she revealed that no one in the cast present during the Season 6 final scene has an idea who Negan's victim is.

"Here's a good piece of intel... We shot the scene, and then individually went into a (sound) booth privately to record audio, so I don't know. Nobody knows what anybody else said," Cohen revealed.
