The San Diego Comic Con brought a whiff of good news to fans and viewers of the much-awaited series, "The Walking Dead" season 7. A new trailer gave a glimpse of what is to come when the new season of the show airs on AMC.

King Ezekiel was uncovered in the trailer which debuted at the recent San Diego Comic-Con. The character is considered one of the dear characters in the comic book series. He appeared for the first time in the video and fans can expect to see more of him on the small screen. Khary Payton portrays the fan favorite character and appeared with the character's tiger, Shiva.

However, much of the focus was trained on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and of course, the most anticipated reveal of his victim was just too juicy to reveal even at the Comic Con. It was too much to hope for that fans would get a glimpse of who was at the receiving end of that bat blow that Negan loosed.

Andrew Lincoln, who portrays the role of Rick Grimes, shared at the panel that this part was reserved for when the show would make its premiere.

Lincoln also added that the premiere will lead to "one of the greatest showdowns we've had on this show since Terminus."

Gale Ann Hurd, one of the show's executive producers, also said that the world on the show will be getting larger and "more complex."

Scott Gimple, another EP of the series, revealed that the audience will also be seeing more of the romantic pairing of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), which took the viewers by storm when it came out in season 6 of the show.

In an interview with Variety, Gimple said of the interracial couple, "I wasn't aware that it would have the impact that it did."

He added that the fantasy of an apocalypse supposes that the things that "separate" people come to nothing, become insignificant in the face of survival. Gimple said that when things that people usually see onscreen are replaced by an unusual picture, people always react, "because it's change." On a final note he expressed hope that showing these portrayals would somehow break the barrier and "allow more of those portrayals."

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere on Oct. 23.
