'The Walking Dead' season 7 rumored premiere date and new characters, Robert Kirkman gives teasers

As "The Walking Dead" season 6 nears its 90-minute finale episode scheduled for April 3, fans of the series will have to wait a few more months given its rumored October return. The finale will feature Negan, the iconic villain in the comics.
Soon into the airing of season 6, AMC announced that the post-apocalyptic zombie series will come back for a seventh season. No word yet from the company if an October premiere is in order, though it is most likely to return around that month based on the previous seasons. In the past four years of its run, the show had always kicked off on the second sunday of October, in line with the Halloween-themed marathons offered by AMC. Given that consistent schedule, Cinemablend speculates that the show might be back by Oct. 9, Sunday. However, a Sunday premiere on Oct. 16 is still on the table since it was the date season 6 was released. With all the speculations, fans need not worry because an announcement can be expected this summer.
"The Walking Dead" comic book writer Robert Kirkman recently caught up with Hollywood Life and he gave some teasers for the upcoming season. "I don't know I think we are getting to the cool stuff! Everything in season 6 sets up all the insane stuff that will happen in season seven," he said. "I think we are getting to the cool stuff. Everything in season 6 sets up all the insane stuff that will happen in season 7. I think that the show is changing and evolving at such a rapid pace now that it is getting really exciting for me," the 37-year-old writer said.
Based on Robert Kirkman's source material, new characters will definitely be in the seventh season. Besides foul-mouthed tyrant Negan, a key character might be introduced named "King" Ezekiel. Without giving too much of his backstory, it is safe to say that he is just "another man-in-charge in the outside world," as reports noted. Residents of the Hilltop Colony who viewers might meet are Earl, a blacksmith who plays a part in Carl's future and Brianna, who becomes a close friend to Maggie.
