Most of the questions about the upcoming season 7 of "The Walking Dead" revolve around the group of Alexandrians who were caught by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors. One of the captives in that unlucky bunch, after all, is Negan's first victim, having been bludgeoned to death in the season 6 finale.

While that group is held by Negan, Carol (Melissa McBride) and Morgan (Lennie James) will find themselves in a whole other environment. As fans of the show have seen from the season 7 trailers, the two will find themselves ensconced in the Kingdom, a community of zombie apocalypse survivors led by Ezekiel (Khary Payton).

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, "The Walking Dead" showrunner Scott Gimple spoke about how Carol and Morgan will navigate their new situations.

According to Gimple, Carol is in a "tricky place." "She doesn't want community and she doesn't want people close to her," he explained. But although Carol wants to be on her own, she will also feel the pull of having people around who care about her.

Morgan, on the other hand, will finally be coming to terms with the fact that his pacificist ideals probably won't suit the new environment he is in.

"Morgan was never certain, and now his going through the world without killing anyone, is that just wishful thinking at this point?" Gimple asked. "That's a big part of his story this season," Gimple continued.

Meanwhile, AMC president Josh Sapan recently said that he thinks "The Walking Dead" still has many years ahead of it. In an interview with The Wrap, he said that the popular series "has incredible long life left in it."

Sapan compared the show's longevity to that of "Star Trek," noting that sci-fi series came and went thrice.

"We do think that we have a franchise [in 'The Walking Dead' and 'Fear the Walking Dead'] that is one of the rare franchises that you occasionally come across in what we do for a living," he said.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 debuts Sunday, Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
