Norman Reedus, who portrays Daryl Dixon in AMC's TV adaptation of "The Walking Dead," recently teased fans the reason behind his character's refusal to join the Saviors.

In an interview with IGN, the actor told the news outlet that the death of Glenn (Steven Yeun) in the opening episode of the season is the main reason why he did not want to join Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his gang. "Glenn was such an optimistic, good person and such a close friend of Daryl's that that's the last shred of dignity and hope that Daryl has at that moment," Reedus revealed.

The actor said that they can feed him dog food and torture Daryl, but he will not concede to the Saviors. He also revealed that the worst possible scenario for his character is for him to lose hope, and to say that he is "Negan," and that he will join the team.

To recap, in episode 3 of season 7, Daryl was offered the opportunity to join the group. When Negan asked him what his name was, he expected Daryl to say he was "Negan," which is basically a pledge signifying his willingness to be part of the Saviors. However, Daryl gave the group's leader a completely different answer, telling him that he was in fact Daryl.

Aside from the second episode, which showed a less gloomy side of the story, the season so far is looking grim. In the upcoming episode of the series, the focus will be on Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the surviving members of Alexandria. In the trailer for the fourth episode, it revealed that Negan will be making his first visit to Alexandria to make his collection. The trailer showed that Rosita (Christian Serrators) and Spencer (Austin Nichols) intended to scavenge, but Negan's arrival prevented them from going on their trip.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 airs on AMC on Sundays at 9 p.m. EST.
