'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers: Who is Siren Sybil?
Although The CW's supernatural drama TV series "The Vampire Diaries," is coming to an end, the show still has time to introduce one more villain to the franchise. The season premiere revealed a siren named Sybil who has been controlling Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey).
The siren is portrayed by Nathalie Kelley. Similar to the creatures in Greek mythology, the show's siren will be using songs to lure men into her trap and make them do her bidding.
Towards the end of the premiere, viewers were treated to a brief clip of Sybil's song. However, viewers still don't know if the character is part bird, like the creatures in Greek Myth. In her introduction, she appeared to have a standard human appearance.
Furthermore, in Homer's myths, as Enzo revealed, individuals who are lured in can only break free when they block their ears with wax or until they are out of the siren's range. On the other hand, individuals who are able to resist the siren's serenade will be able to defeat the creature. Once Enzo and Damon are able to resist the temptation, the siren will destroy herself.
In a character description revealed by TV Line, Kelley's Sybil might eventually become the characters' ally.
The description stated that Sybil is "an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people, manipulating them into twisted games and tests for her own amusement and glorification. Time will tell whether she proves to be a friend or foe, but given this show's penchant for sympathetic villains, it could also be fair to assume she'll be a bit of both."
When Damon and Enzo plot and carry out mischievous deeds, the younger Salvatore brother Stefan (Paul Wesley), along with Bonnie (Kat Graham), will go on a mission to save the duo.
"The Vampire Diaries" returns to The CW on Fridays, at 8 p.m. EDT.
