'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 latest news: Did Nina Dobrev shut down rumors of her return to the show with an Instagram post?

Although fans and loyal viewers may have hoped and prayed for her return, it looks like Nina Dobrev have all but confirmed that she won't be back for the final season of "The Vampire Diaries."
The 27-year-old actress recently posted on Instagram a new poster for her upcoming film, "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage." Aside from promoting the forthcoming movie, some of her followers believe that she also intended to shade "The Vampire Diaries" cast and crew because of how she captioned the photo.
"Now that's a team I can work with," the first sentence in Dobrev's caption of the "xXx" poster read. She stated further, "So excited to share the new poster for @xXxMovie. Xander Cage is back!"
Many of her followers were baffled on whether or not she threw shade at her former "The Vampire Diaries" family, and some were upset that she would make a subtle attempt at making negative comments about the supernatural TV show and the people working hard on it. Her Instagram post also cast doubt on her possible return in the show's eighth and final season.
As reported by the International Business Times, despite the many comments from her followers concerning her Instagram post, Dobrev has yet to respond on the issue of whether or not she intentionally captioned the "xXx" poster to slam her "The Vampire Diaries" co-stars, which include ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Candice King, and Kat Graham, among many others.
There were previous reports that efforts are being made to bring back Dobrev for, at least, an episode of the eighth season of "The Vampire Diaries" as a final farewell to the show's fans. However, no official announcement has been issued on the matter. And if Dobrev's previous statements are indeed intended to throw shade on the show, her return has become even more unlikely.
Fans will get to see Dobrev in the big-screen portraying a supporting role once "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" hit theaters next year in January. She will be appearing in the film with fellow cast members Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, Donnie Yen, Ruby Rose, Deepika Padukone, Tony Jaa, and Kris Wu.
