'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 episode 12 spoilers: Damon makes a deal with Cade to rescue Stefan's soul; Enzo to return for finale
Damon (Ian Somerhalder) makes a deadly deal on the upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
The episode titled "What Are You?" will see Damon do everything in his power to save his brother. According to the official synopsis of next week's episode, Damon makes a deal with Cade (guest star Wolé Parks) to get the Maxwell journal in order to rescue Stefan's (Paul Wesley) soul. However, getting the journal might not be as easy as it seems. Alaric (Matt Davis) and Matt (Zach Roerig) refuse to hand it over as it may contain the only key to destroying Cade. Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice King) desperately attempts to contact Stefan before Cade successfully goes through with his evil plan.
Friday's episode wrapped up with the death of a major character. Stefan killed Enzo (Michael Malarkey) by ripping out his heart, while Bonnie (Katerina Graham) screamed in agony. Despite his brutal death, it seems that the show is not done with him just yet. Malarkey recently caught up with TV Line and confirmed that fans can expect to see Enzo return for a part of the anticipated finale episode set to air on March 10.
"I've gone in and done a couple bits here and there," the actor said of the upcoming finale. "It's nice to be able to wrap this thing up the way they've done it, to know this is the end, and to do it justice ... It's nice to come full circle with Julie [Plec] directing the last one, and bringing back some familiar faces. ... I'm sure everyone is saying that it's bittersweet, but it's also just kind of sweet," he went on to say.
Malarkey joins the growing list of "The Vampire Diaries" vets returning for the show's finale, including Nina Dobrev as Elena and David Anders as John Gilbert. More returning characters are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
