'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 finale spoilers news: Nina Dobrev returning as evil Elena Gilbert?

The latest rumors regarding the much-awaited finale of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 state the possible return of a female main character of the series.
According to the reports, Nina Dobrev is likely to make a surprise appearance in the last episode of the seventh season after her character, Elena Gilbert, formally bid farewell to the show in the Season 6 finale. While some fans believe that Dobrev is possibly returning to the series after Season 7, there are hints that the actress may actually return sooner than expected, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported. Dobrev's return in "The Vampire Diaries" as Elena is expected to happen as Damon Salvatore (played by Ian Somerhalder) goes inside the vault of The Armory, where a horrific being is believed to contained in it.
To recall, the Mystic Falls vampires comprised of Damon, Stefan (played by Paul Wesley), Enzo (played by Michael Malarkey) and Caroline (played by Candice Accola King) are being pursued by the newly resurrected Bonnie (played by Kat Graham). She was seen dying due to the side effect of the pill she was taking to suppress her witch powers. Thanks to the sacrifice of the vampire huntress Rayna (played by Leslie Ann Huff) as she transferred her last remaining life to Bonnie, the last Bennet witch was saved. However, it would cost her and friends more than what they bargained for.
While Bonnie has proven herself as a close friend and ally to the company, her newly-acquired vampire huntress abilities and behavior have driven her mad to the point of trying to kill her closest confidantes, Damon and Caroline.
In the upcoming episode titled "Gods and Monsters," the cure for Bonnie's condition is believed to lie inside the vault of The Armory. However, the Mystic Falls gang have no idea what the entity inside the vault is capable of doing. In the promo teaser for the season finale, Damon entered the vault and saw someone that looks a lot like Elena.
In an interview with TV Line, "The Vampire Diaries" creator and executive producer Julie Plec said that she is still hoping that Dobrev is still open to doing another appearance on the show.
She revealed that Elena still has a lot of stories left untold due to Dobrev's exit last year. If the actress gave a go signal to do the remaining chapters of Elena, then they would be able to finish it. However, this would all depend on Dobrev's availability and willingness to return.
"There is still a chapter of Elena's story left to be told... I'll take Dobrev for whatever she's willing to do to tell that story," Plec said.
