'The Sims 4' PS4, Xbox One release date news 2016: Console launch no longer happening?

With no word from Electronic Arts about the launch of the Xbox One and PlayStation version of "The Sims 4," console users are starting to worry that there won't be one.

However, according to iDigital Times, EA may simply be waiting for the Xbox Scorpio and the PlayStation Neo to be released first so they can take advantage of the powerful specs instead.

Microsoft and Sony both introduced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 a next-generation console set for a future release.

EA is reportedly looking to take advantage of the power of the consoles and their Virtual Reality (VR) support and 4K gaming support for "The Sims 4."

However, the aforementioned site believes that the developer will focus on "The Sims 5" instead considering that the current iteration of the life simulation game wasn't received well by fans.

According to iDigital Times, more Sims fans stuck with "The Sims 3" despite the release of "The Sims 4." However, it is important to note that EA made big changes and improvements for the game.

Last month, the developer removed the gender barriers in the game, which hint that they still have big plans in the instalment.

In the past, it was rumored that EA was having trouble with porting "The Sims 4" over to the PS4 and Xbox One and that they are still trying to rectify this issue. However, there's no information to corroborate on that yet.

At the moment, EA has not said anything about its console release plans for "The Sims 4," which suggest that they don't have any or it might not be the focus for now.

EA is currently preparing new content for the game, which they will be ready to talk about in three months. However, there's already one on the way this July 19.

The next downloadable content (DLC) for the game is "Backyard Stuff," where players can decorate their patio in many colourful ways and with even more colourful items.
