'The Royals' season 3 release date, cast news & spoilers: Premiere coming December 2016, Elizabeth Hurley's son joins

"The Royals" has been confirmed to premiere its third season later this year, along with new faces to spice up the story even more.
Lead star Elizabeth Hurley's son Damian Hurley has been tapped by the network as a guest star in the drama series. Damian's character description is yet to be announced, but he will play the role of Hansel, the Crown Prince of Liechtenstein. Since this is the 14-year-old's first acting gig, his mother shared her excitement on his recent casting via social media. "Mama taking a back seat tomorrow on the set of #TheRoyals. Passing the baton to my son, who is guest starring as Prince Hansel von Liechtenstein @theroyalsone @lionsgatetv," the caption in Elizabeth's Instagram post reads.
After Damian's first day on set, Elizabeth posted another photo of them in the car with the caption: "On our way home from the set of #TheRoyals. A million congratulations to my son on his first day filming #PrinceHansel @theroyalsone @lionsgatetv."
Other newcomers for this season are "The Tudors" actor Max Brown who will portray Queen Helena's son Prince Robert and Jules Knight as Spencer, the new Lord Chamberlain. Production for season 3 is currently in full swing and most of the scenes are still shot in London. The plot picks up two weeks following the execution of King Simon's (Vincent Reagan) murderer who plagued the fictional royal family in the previous season.
In an interview with E! News, lead actress Hurley hinted that the Queen might meet a new love interest when the show returns later this year. "There's a lot of intrigues, there's a lot of scandal, there's a lot of drama going on," she said. "There's definitely some big twists coming up, some of which I've been told about... I think the Queen may fall in love in season three. My fingers are crossed for her."
"The Royals" season 3 premieres on December 2016 but E! has yet to announce an exact release date.
