The premiere of "The Originals" season 4 is right around the corner, and it is set five years after the events of season 3.

The new season opens up when the prophecy has been fulfilled with the Mikaelsons' downfall and with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) defeating Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to become the king of New Orleans again. Since then, he has opened the borders for un-sired vampires. However, this decision can lead to his undoing.

These new vampires will gang up together form a plot against him, which will force Marcel to seek help from an unlikely source.

Meanwhile, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will continue to find a way to wake up the Mikaelsons. She will find herself facing one final task to achieve her goal. Doing so, however, will force her to make a difficult decision, which nonetheless will result in the awakening of the Originals, who will then attempt to rescue their brother, Klaus, and defeat Marcel — a tall order considering that he is now the most powerful being in the show. Hayley is also set to locate the seven werewolf packs to try to save her family. Her relationship with Elijah (Daniel Gillies) will also be further explored.

While alive, Klaus is a prisoner of Marcel. He will be shown to continue to suffer from the effects of the Tunde Blade, which was used to stab him at the end of season 3. However, something happens that will allow him to reunite with his daughter, Hope (Summer Fontana), who is already 7 years old. Leah Pipes will also be returning to the show, although no word has been revealed yet if her character, Camille, will really return, or if she will just be a hallucination.

Meanwhile, more of Vincent's backstory will be revealed in season 4. One of his storylines will be discovering a sinister haunting.

The season premiere of "The Originals" will air on March 17.
