'The Originals' Season 4 release date, spoilers news: Executive producer explains time jump; 2017 premiere date beneficial for show

Instead of a Fall premiere date of the new season of CW's supernatural drama series "The Originals," it is expected to arrive by early 2017. This raises concerns among the fans that the series will be affected due to its possible storyline being cut short. However, "The Originals" executive producer and showrunner Julie Plec revealed that the later than usual air date of the fourth season can be seen as an advantage for the creative team.
The previous seasons of "The Originals" premiered sometime between September to October, but for Season 4, its first episode is expected to air around the first quarter of next year. The third season finale of the hit series ended in May this year. As reported by TV Line, Plec explained that the early 2017 premiere of "The Originals" Season 4 will give them extended time to work on a much effective plotline. It is important that the show would bring something new and exciting for its long-time viewers.
"When they shifted the air date, it actually gave us the freedom, weirdly, to shift the timeline in our favors so that we could have more time to pass in 'The Originals' between seasons than 'The Vampire Diaries.' So we get to add an extra couple of years on to our time lapse between seasons. It's actually a good thing. It's positive to not have to worry about being side by side," said Plec.
To recap the finale episode, the prophesized "Beast" who would take down the Original vampires was finally revealed. According to the prophecy, the Mikaelsons will be killed by a friend, family, and foe. The previous episodes revealed that Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) turned his back on the Mikaelsons after the family has decided to sacrifice Davina (Danielle Campbell), her adoptive daughter.
In retaliation, Marcel took the serum that allows the drinker to have power greater than that of an Original vampire. The Mikaelsons thought that Marcel was dead, but the serum made him return from the dead and become stronger as ever, with his vampire fangs imbued with an incurable werewolf venom. This finally presented Marcel as the 'Beast' that will cause the Mikaelson's downfall. The final scenes show the Mikaelson siblings choosing to be under a slumber spell to delay their deaths, while many believe that the daughter of Niklaus (Joseph Morgan), Hope, will one day save them from their situation.
Executive producer Michael Narducci revealed in a separate interview with TV Line that there is going to be a time jump before the fourth season starts next year. This would mean that the viewers will see a grown up Hope, although still a child. This would give the viewers a picture of how the miracle baby of Niklaus will help her family.
"We are going to have a little bit of a time jump in between when the story ends at the end of the finale and when we pick up in Season 4. That experience in the time jump will be similar to what the audience is feeling. To me, in a way, it actually makes sense," Narducci said.
