'The Originals' season 4 premiere spoilers: EP teases Mikaelson reunion, Hayley's next move
With every original vampire incapacitated in some way by the end of the season 3 finale, things should be very interesting when "The Originals" returns for season 4 in 2017.
With the Mikaelsons in dire straits, it is now up to Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), to save the original vampire family. At the end of the season 3 finale, Hayley loaded her truck with four Mikaelson caskets, took her baby daughter Hope, and drove to New Orleans, where she hopes to find a cure that will bring her family back.
In an interview with TVLine, "The Originals" executive producer Michael Narducci spoke about what fans can expect from the season 4 premiere, saying that because of the major twists in the season 3 finale, viewers should expect a time jump when the new season debuts.
"It's almost mandatory that there be some sort of time jump," he said. According to Narducci, what happened to the Mikaelsons was a "definitive loss" and there is no easy way out of the situations they are currently in. Narducci also noted that both Hayley and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) will have to "start from scratch."
Speaking with TV Guide about the fate of the Mikaelsons, the "Originals" boss said, "What you can definitely assume is that after a time cut, these sleeping giants are going [to] awaken and they are not going to be happy."
"There's going to be a reunion of all these characters," he said, but explained that he would have to leave it to the fans to speculate on how that will occur.
In the interview with TVLine, Narducci also spoke about Hayley's future, saying that there were actually hints in the season 3 finale about what the vampire-werewolf hybrid will be doing next.
"...I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that Hayley will look to find a way — either by using her own vampire power or by using a witch — to try to communicate with [everyone in the dream world]," he said, adding that fans should be able to figure out who she will turn to.
While the previous three seasons of "The Originals" have premiered in October and ended in May, season 4 has been slated for a midseason premiere in 2017.
