NBC still hasn't confirmed the renewal of its medical drama series "The Night Shift" for a fourth season. The previous season just ended last month. Although the show had great ratings last, the network is reportedly taking the time to think about renewing the show.

Fans are crossing their fingers for another season since the last one ended with such a big cliffhanger. They have yet to know if TC (Eoin Macken) and Syd (Jennifer Beals) make it out alive after the terrible bombing. Moreover, everyone wants to know what is next for Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) and the ER staff who resigned.

Brendan Fehr, who portrays Dr. Drew in the show, is hopeful that the network will pick up the show for another season. But in an interview with Digital Spy, the star seemed a bit frustrated that the network still hasn't given the green light .

"We have heard no news on that," he told the news outlet. "Which is quite surprising. We were the number one scripted show in the summer. I don't think there's a number higher than one!" he added.

The show reportedly had 5.80 million viewers for the season 3 finale, which was bigger than the previous one. The final episode of season 2 garnered 5.20 million viewers.

"I don't know what our network is looking for us to do in order to get that pickup. I think it'll inevitably come, but the fact we've waited this long is a little frustrating, but we just laugh it off and it just bands us together more," Fehr told Digital Spy.

Executive producer Jeff Judah admitted to Cartermatt that if NBC decides to drop the show, he hopes that another network will revive it. "We think there's going to be a next season — we just wish we knew like a month ago. We're feeling strong that if it's not [NBC], then it's going to be someone," he revealed.
